About Dallas Southern Pride 2011

Dallas Southern Pride (DSP), the city’s premier Black Gay Pride Event, is proud to present “Cirque, Cirque! Life is a Circus & We are your Ring Masters!” September 29 - October 2, 2011, a series of events designed to celebrate the Same Gender Loving (SGL) community of color in true Lone Star State-style.

This year's theme, “Cirque, Cirque! Life is a Circus & We are your Ring Masters!” is designed to promote an atmosphere of positive interaction between Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender individuals. There are many things that happen throughout the year which makes us feel as if we are invisible or irrelevant, but Pride 2011 is setting the tone for us to foster support for organizations that are addressing health, education, economic and social issues affecting local LGBT communities of color. While there are several new organizations’ seeking to capitalize on this year’s festivities, Dallas Southern Pride is the only local Black PRIDE organization with a long-standing history in this area for providing signature events aimed at the Black LGBT community.

More than 10,000 participants are expected to converge on Dallas for the city’s signature Black Gay Pride circuit party of the season, for the four-day festive weekend.

While historically prides have been predominately gay male events, Dallas Southern Pride also partners with local women's organizations to ensure that the needs of this important community are addressed with workshops on relationships, health, wellness and financial planning.  We also work very hard to include programs and events that are inclusive of Transgender individuals. Our events hold a distinguished history in our community, and continues to be a part of our ongoing commitment to educating and empowering women and Transgender individuals of color.

Dallas Southern Pride is offering a host of events and parties starting on Thursday, September 29 and ending on October 2, to include an Official Kickoff Party and Lipstick Ball, and so much more planned.
